Fraud Detection in shipping and fishing
Tailored for the shipping and fishing industry, ReelCatch analyses the behaviour of shipping vessels to determine their activity at any time (cruising, fishing etc), in order to detect fraud: illegal fishing, smuggling etc.
Today, regulators' abilities to detect such activities are limited and costly, leading to low success rates and high levels of uncertainty.
ReelCatch solves this by conducting behavioural analysis of the vessel's GPS signaling - acutely estimating what the vessel is doing at any time and place. This is compared to
the vessel's logbook entries to detect unobvious deviations.
The system uses two core algorithms - self-calibration for constantly fine-tuning ReelCatch's understanding of the vessel's behaviour; and effort estimation for real-time analysis of the GPS data received.
Complementing one another, these keep ReelCatch relevant regardless of external conditions (e.g. weather).
ReelCatch is based on our success in the CEDER project (an EC FP7 project).
