The
European Commission's "Seventh Framework Programme for
research and technology development" (FP7) provides opportunities for
researchers to cooperate in long-term research activities in several
domains.
Taking part in this program and previous ones (5th and 6th), we
undertake three types of activities:
-
Development – initiating and taking part
in software development of advanced data analysis solutions, we aim to
take part in research activities which can benefit from our experience
and capabilities in the area of geospatial analysis and our other fields
of expertise.
-
Business Development and Exploitation – in
order to successfully utilize results of research, effective business
activities must take place, otherwise the achievement may be deemed
irrelevant to the market, or simply overlooked. We coordinate the
efforts within a project in order to ensure profitable utilization of
results through start-ups, joint venture companies and other similar
platforms.
-
Validation – advanced testing is often an
obstacle in later stages of development, and the platforms themselves on
which testing takes place may need development. We develop reference
applications and test beds for research projects through our generic
engines and other solutions. We integrate the research results with
these and provide a reference platform for the project.
The domains in which we participate are very
diverse, including car accident prevention, shipping activities, services
for the elderly, grid computing and C4iSTAR.
