SORMA
SORMA is a specific targeted research or innovation project and a part of the
EU's 6th framework program (FP6).
SORMA's home page is available at www.iw.uni-karlsruhe.de/SORMA/ .
SORMA is a project in which a mechanism for market-based resource allocation is developed for computational resources; the goal behind the project is to optimize resource allocation between the needs of different users through this mechanism.
The project deals with the development of methods and tools for an efficient market-based allocation of resources, through a Self-Organizing Resource MAnagement system, using market-driven models supported by extensions for Grid infrastructures. Topics addressed include open Grid markets, economics-driven Grid middleware, and intelligent tools. Brokerage of resources over the Grid will benefit Grid consumers, resource owners, outsourcing providers, and new intermediaries.
SORMA is funded by the European Union's Information Society Technologies Programme
Within the project, we are leading the validation work package. As part of this, we are providing a
reference application of multiple video surveillance systems processed at a single central processing site. The decision which of the video sources will be processed is performed by SORMA utilizing the market based mechanism being developed.
