Data Fusion
The process of data fusion is required when trying to depict, process, and predict aspects of the real
world. Relevant data received from available sources may suffer from gaps, inaccuracies and/or may be overlapping additional data received from the same or different source. Data fusion processes allow us to recreate reality, based on the knowledge available to us, and refine our creation and perception as more data becomes available.
Data Fusion is based on data harmonization, meaning comparing similar conceptual and logical data models from heterogeneous sources to determine the existence of common data elements, similar data elements, and dissimilar data elements, resulting in a unified data model.
After the data fusion is accomplished, the data is valid for subsequent processing, such as: distribution to clients, real time graphic display, or Geographic Data Mining.
